The Colorado No-call list. This legislation effectively put an end to annoying telemarketing calls by allowing individuals to place their name on the list. It was used as the model for the Federal No-Call list.
Eminent Domain. This legislation protects private property owners by prohibiting the condemnation of property for purposes of economic development.
Tourism Funding. As a result of this bill, 19 million dollars has been allocated to promote Colorado nationally and internationally. This will result in a return to the taxpayers of $10.00 for every dollar spent.
Cost of living increase for teachers. This amendment to the school finance act allowed voters in high cost of living school districts to decide whether or not to pay teachers and district employees a higher wage relative to higher living expenses.
Concealed Carry. A statewide standardized policy which allows for mandatory issuance of concealed carry permits with proper background checks, firearms training, and a proficiency test.
Multijurisdictional Housing Authority. Allows for neighboring communities to work together to provide affordable housing.

Strong
Support Directs Representative Al White into Race for the Senate
Al White Announces Candidacy for SD 8
Sept. 6, 2007 (Hayden) - Today, state Rep. Al White (HD-57) decided to
continue his service representing the people of the western slope by announcing
his candidacy for state Senate District 8.
"After discussing the possibility of a run for the senate with my
family and friends, I have decided to continue my efforts serving the
people of Northwest Colorado at the state capitol," said White. "There
is much work to be done and I feel that my service is not an option, but
an obligation to the citizens of the district."
This will not be new territory for White who represented all or parts
of Garfield, Grand, Jackson, Moffat, Rio Blanco and Routt counties in
his current House District. Senate District 8 includes all of Moffat,
Routt, Jackson and Rio Blanco counties, as well as parts of Eagle and
Garfield counties.
It was known that White was contemplating a run for the seat that has
been held for the last two terms by Sen. Jack Taylor. Many legislators
and officials voiced strong words of encouragement and support toward
the prospect of White's campaign.
"White would be a cornerstone just like (Sen.) Taylor," Moffat
County Commissioner Saed Tayyara said. "He is up-front and doesn't
hide anything. Bring any issue to him, and he's always willing to sit
with someone until he understands their position. He doesn't hesitate
to stand and speak up about county issues."
A colleague and ally in the legislature, Senator Taylor also spoke in
support of White saying, "Should he choose to run, he has my full
and complete support because of his experience and history representing
the people of Northwest Colorado."
"I am truly humbled to have the support of Senator Taylor and so
many of my friends and colleagues," said White. "I am restless
to begin this campaign trail so that I can continue my efforts to reach
out to the residents of this great region and find solutions to issues
affecting them."
Prior to his service in the state legislature, White and his wife, Jean,
maintained deep roots in the mountains of Colorado. The White's spent
25 years in the ski business as owners and operators of several full service
ski shops, a bike shop and a mountain lodge. An active member of the business
community, he served on several bank boards and as the Vice Chair of the
Winter Park Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, White served
as the Chairman of the Fraser Valley Metropolitan Recreation District
and Secretary of the Grand County Water and Sanitation board. Al currently
resides in both Hayden and Winter Park with his wife of 28 years. They
have two children Devin, 26, and Jenna, 22.
Rep. Al White Appointed To State Budget Committee

House
Republican Leader Mike May, R-Parker, today appointed state Rep. Al White,
R-Winter Park, to serve as one of only six members of the state's powerful
Joint Budget Committee.
As a member of the JBC, White will be responsible for reviewing the operations and programs of Colorado's departments and agencies and determining how the state budget should be administered for the successful operation of government.
"Al White will be a responsible and accountable steward of our citizens' hard-earned taxpayer dollars and a watchdog to protect the interests of Coloradans," May said. "Al understands the importance of responsible spending and his principles, as well as his background and experience, will make him a valuable addition to the Joint Budget Committee."
The JBC is responsible for reviewing the efforts, management and fiscal needs of Colorado government and ensuring that the legislature fulfills its constitutional requirement for a balanced budget.
As a member of the JBC, White also will serve on the House Appropriations Committee.
"With these committee assignments comes a great deal of responsibility," White said. "When we talk about the state budget, we are talking about our citizens' hard-earned tax dollars. We have an obligation to ensure that these dollars are being spent efficiently and effectively to serve the needs of Colorado citizens, not the needs and wants of state government. I will work tirelessly to make sure that obligation is met and to protect the interests of the taxpayers as these critical decisions are made."
White has served in the state legislature for six years and has been a member of the House Business Affairs and Labor Committee, the Legislative Audit Committee and the Colorado Tourism Office Board.
He has owned and operated several small businesses in Winter Park and was vice chair of the Winter Park/Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce. He has also served in the past on the boards of several banks.
